Son facing months out after elbow surgery

Tottenham will be without Son Heung-min for up to two months after the forward suffered an elbow injury, The Athletic understands.

Sources have said that Son suffered the injury in the early stages of Sunday’s 3-2 win at Aston Villa, a game in which remarkably he played on until the end and scored twice — including a stoppage-time winner.

After travelling back to London on Sunday, Son went for a scan on Monday to explore possible damage to the proximal radius of his right elbow. Tottenham later confirmed that Son would require surgery and a typical recovery time is six to eight weeks.

The worst-case scenario of an eight-week layoff would mean that Son is unavailable for at least ten games; seven Premier League games, both legs of the Champions League last 16 tie and the FA Cup fifth round match against Norwich.
