Heads need to roll, because this is not acceptable.
On the flip side, this collaboration is designed to cause faux outrage, and get people talking about both brands, so mission accomplished.
We’ve seen the ‘pocket Croc’, we’ve seen platform Crocs, we’ve seen the Post Malone ‘Posty Crocs’ (huge seller, by the way), and now we’re staring down the barrel of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Croc.
Let’s just get the video out of the way:
So, are they for real?
Well, here’s what we can find on Crocs’ official website, which says the design will be available for purchase from Spring 2020:
Do you love world famous fried chicken? Do you love Crocs? Do you love brand spokespersons like Colonel Sanders? Then, boy, howdy, do we have something for you.
Covered in a fried chicken print and a striped base, these will make your dreams of wearing a bucket of chicken finally come true.
Each pair of co-branded footwear comes with two Jibbitz™ charms made to resemble and smell like fried chicken.
Sorry to dash your hopes and dreams, but the footwear won’t feature actual chicken. Rather, you’ll find two of these:
I feel robbed, and that’s before you factor in that the Crocs will set you back $60, or around R900.
Hypebeast has offered a genuine look at the design, sans judgement:
The collaboration features a white Croslite foam base complete with ventilation ports dressed in a fried chicken print. Co-branding appears on the rivet holding down the heel strap and the iconic red and white stripes found on KFC buckets appears on the sole portion.
Will this Croc actually ever go on sale to the general public? Who knows, but the buzz alone is good PR for both brands involved.
